Letters to Congress

The Clean Water Council (CWC) is a coalition of underground construction contractors, design professionals, manufacturers and suppliers, and other professionals committed to ensuring a high quality of life through sound environmental infrastructure.  Every year we circulate letters to members of Congress advocating for increased funding of clean water projects and environmental infrastructure.  Below are letters we have sent to committee Chairman and Conferees regarding the need for increased investing in our nation's water infrastructure.     

2008 Letters to Congress  

June 6, 2008 - CWC letter sent to Chairman of House Appropriations Interior, Environment and Related Agencies Subcommittee, Congressman Norm Dicks and the other member of the subcommittee requesting $1.35 billion for the Clean Water State Revolving Fund and $850 Drinking Water State Revolving Fund for Fiscal Year 2009.

April 2, 2008 - Senate "Dear Colleague" letter sent to Chairwoman of Senate Appropriations Interior, Environment and Related Agencies Subcommittee, Senator Dianne Feinstein and Ranking Member, Senator Wayne Allard requesting $1.35 billion for the Clean Water State Revolving Fund for Fiscal Year 2009. The letter was signed by 48 Senators.

March 26, 2008 - CWC letter to the entire Senate in support of a "dear colleague" letter to the Appropriations Subcommittee in Interior, Environment and Related Agencies in support of $1.35 billion in funding for the Clean Water State Revoliving Fund and $850 million in funding for the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

March 10, 2008 - CWC letter to Chairman Christopher Dodd of the Senate Banking Committee in support of the National Infrastructure Bank Act (S. 1926).

February 22, 2008 - Senate "Dear Colleague" letter to Chairman Kent Conrad and Ranking Member Judd Gregg of the Senate Budget Committee requesting $1.35 billion for the Clean Water State Revolving Fund for Fiscal Year 2009. The letter was signed by 45 Senators.



2007 Letters to Congress  

November 5, 2007 - The CWC letter sent to Chairman of House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Congressman Jim Oberstar, Ranking Member, Congressman John Mica and members of House Leadership, urging their support in passing the conference report for the Water Resources Development Act of 2007 (H.R. 1495).

September 21, 2007 - The CWC letter sent to Chairwoman of Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, Senator Barabra Boxer and Ranking Member, Senator James Inhofe, urges their support in passing the conference report for the Water Resources Development Act of 2007 (H.R. 1495).

May 9, 2007
 - The CWC letter sent to Chairwoman of Senate Appropriations Interior and Related Agencies Subcommittee, Senator Diane Feinstein and Ranking Member, Senator Larry Craig, urges their support in restoring funding for the Clean Water state Revolving Fund to $1.35 billion.

April 20, 2007 - The CWC letter sent to Chairwoman of Senate Evironment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, Senator Barbara Boxer and Ranking Member, Senator James Inhofe, urges them to introduce legislation to reauthorize the Clean Water State Revolving Fund in the Senate EPW Committee. 

March 30, 2007 - The Senate letter sent to Chairwoman of Senate Appropriations Interior and Related Agencies Subcommittee, Senator Diane Feinstein and Ranking Member, Senator Larry Craig, urges their support in restoring funding for clean water programs cut in President Bush's FY08 budget request. 

February 12, 2007 - CWC letter to members of the House of Representatives encouaging passage of the Water Quality Financing Act of 2007 (HR. 720)
