Safety is NUCA’s Top Priority

A successful safety program is a critical element in protecting your most important investment—your employees. An effective safety program will also help to reduce liability and vehicle accidents, protect the public, and reduce damage to materials and equipment. NUCA’s Safety Department is committed to providing underground utility contractors and excavators with the information, training programs, and technical assistance they need to establish and implement such a program. Through a variety of resources, NUCA also keeps you abreast of the latest regulations and compliance issues at OSHA, DOT and EPA. And, because language shouldn’t be a barrier to safety, NUCA also makes many of its safety products and services available in Spanish.

A Certified Safety Professional (CSP), George Kennedy is NUCA’s full-time Vice President of Safety. He is available to provide both phone and onsite consultation and technical assistance on compliance and other safety-related issues. Kennedy and other NUCA-approved instructors across the country provide excavation safety, competent person and confined space entry training. NUCA staff also work with other industry groups to improve jobsite safety.

NUCA's William H. Feather Safety Award
The William H. Feather Safety Awards were created to honor the contributions of the founding chairman of NUCA's Safety Committee—William H. Feather—and to recognize the same commitment to safety demonstrated by other NUCA members.
