Congratulations to SUCA for being awarded the 2021 Workforce Development Chapter Award

Suncoast Utility Contractors Association (SUCA) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) responded in 1999 by creating Construction Career Days (CCD). The event, which has turned into a Nationwide Educational Outreach Program, is designed to cultivate interest in high school students for a wide variety of skilled construction careers. The local events give students the chance to get a feel for the industry by participating in activities like operating machinery and speaking to experienced industry veterans during interactive learning labs.
The events are organized by transportation industry partners from the public and private sectors. Nearly all 50 states hold at least one event. Currently, Florida holds five events in the Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Tampa, Pensacola, and Orlando areas.
SUCA, FDOT, the Florida Transportation Builders Association (FTBA) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in conjunction with industry partners host the annual Tampa Bay Construction Career Days (TBCCD) Event. CCD introduces High School and Technical Students to various areas of construction including highway, bridges, engineering, utilities, geotechnical investigations and more. Students learn from industry professionals about the multitude of career paths available through hands-on activities. Throughout the day students experience various aspects of construction in learning lab activities such as operating heavy equipment, testing materials, simulating bridge design, traffic safety and more. In addition to the educational aspects of the event, students also have the opportunity to visit our Career Center filled with companies offering immediate placement.
